What the GMAT Focus Edition Is
The GMAT Focus Edition is the current version of the GMAT, the admissions test most business schools use for MBA and many specialised master's programs. It is shorter and more streamlined than the older GMAT, with a sharper focus on the reasoning skills business schools care about.
For Indian applicants targeting competitive MBA programs abroad, a strong GMAT score can strengthen an application — but it sits alongside your work experience, essays, and overall profile rather than replacing them.

The Focus Edition uses a total score scale different from the older GMAT, with all three sections contributing equally. Because the scale changed, avoid directly comparing a Focus Edition score to old GMAT numbers — schools understand the new scale.
GMAT scores are generally valid for five years, and you can retake the test to improve your result. Many test-takers benefit from the option to review and reorder questions within a section, a feature of the Focus Edition.
