Licensing, Language, and Getting Classified Right
Two levers matter most. Language first: because CRS heavily rewards higher Canadian Language Benchmark results, a strong IELTS General Training or CELPIP score often adds more points to an engineer's profile than additional experience. Classification second: Canadian officers judge you by your actual duties, so an engineering job title must be supported by responsibilities that match an eligible NOC and TEER — and some software or management roles may be classed outside traditional engineering.
Working as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada is regulated province by province and typically requires assessment by the provincial engineering regulator, sometimes exams, and a period of supervised Canadian experience.
