NOC 11100 — Financial Auditors and Accountants

Canada's National Occupational Classification places Chartered Accountants under NOC 11100 (TEER 1) — the highest-priority skill tier. This means Indian CAs with ICAI designation qualify directly for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) stream without needing any Canadian work experience. Every major Canadian employer — from Big 4 firms and Crown corporations to private equity and fintech — actively recruits qualified accountants.

Your 6-Step Pathway to Canada PR

From IELTS prep to landing as a Canadian Permanent Resident — every milestone mapped for Indian CAs.

01

IELTS / English Proficiency

Target CLB 9 minimum (IELTS 7.5 each band). CLB 10 adds 32 extra CRS points and is achievable for most CA professionals. Book your test early — scores are valid for 2 years.

02

ECA — Educational Credential Assessment

Get your ICAI CA qualification assessed by a designated organisation (WES, ICAS, or CPA Canada). CPA Canada's ECA is ideal as it simultaneously initiates the MOU advanced-standing review for ICAI members.

03

Create Express Entry Profile

Submit your Express Entry profile under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) stream using NOC 11100 — TEER 1. Ensure work experience letters reflect audit, tax, or financial reporting duties aligned with the NOC description.

04

Province Nomination or Job Offer (CRS Boost)

Ontario HCP regularly targets NOC 11100. Alternatively, pursue a Big 4 or mid-tier Canadian firm job offer backed by LMIA (+200 CRS). Future Link has employer contacts who actively recruit Indian CAs.

05

Invitation to Apply (ITA) & Application

Once your CRS clears the draw cut-off, you receive an ITA. You then have 60 days to submit a complete PR application with medical exam, police clearances, and supporting documents.

06

PR Approval & CPA Canada Designation

Federal processing targets 6 months post-ITA. Post-landing, apply to the provincial CPA body under the ICAI MOU for advanced standing — typically 1–2 years to full CPA designation.

ICAI–CPA Canada MOU: Your Credential Advantage

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and CPA Canada is one of the most favourable mutual recognition agreements for any Indian professional. It dramatically reduces the time and cost to obtain Canadian designation post-landing.

Advanced Standing in CPA PEP

ICAI members with 3+ years post-qualification experience may be exempt from certain CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) modules, reducing study time by 12–18 months compared to non-MOU applicants.

ECA Through CPA Canada

CPA Canada acts as an IRCC-designated ECA body for express entry. Using CPA Canada for ECA initiates your MOU assessment simultaneously — saving time and fees.

Provincial CPA Body Membership

After landing, you apply to CPA Ontario, CPA Alberta, or the relevant provincial body. MOU benefits transfer provincially. Most ICAI CAs complete requirements within 1–2 years of landing.

No Re-examination for Core Competencies

You are generally not required to rewrite the CFE (Common Final Examination) if your ICAI CA was completed with 3+ years of experience. Practical experience requirements may be partially credited.

Why Canada for Indian CAs?

Canada's financial services sector is the backbone of its economy. Toronto's Bay Street financial district, along with Big 4 offices across Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa, employ thousands of accounting professionals. The country faces a structural shortage of qualified CPAs as Baby Boomer accountants retire — creating sustained demand for the next decade.

Career Growth

Entry at CAD 70K–85K, rising to CAD 150K+ as CPA Manager/Director within 5–7 years. Partner-track at Big 4 exceeds CAD 250K+.

Job Market

Big 4, mid-tier (BDO, MNP, Grant Thornton), government, and private industry all competing for CA talent. Job Bank Canada rates accounting as high-demand.

Indian CA Community

Tens of thousands of ICAI alumni in Canada. Strong community networks in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver provide mentorship and referrals.
