Can I Study in Canada Without IELTS?
IELTS is the most common English test, but it is not always the only route — some institutions accept alternatives, though a recognised test is usually the safest path.
IELTS is common — but not the only option
Many Canadian institutions accept other English tests such as PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT and, in some cases, the Duolingo English Test. A number of institutions also consider a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter for students whose previous education was fully in English.
That said, a recognised English test result usually gives you the widest choice of institutions and the smoothest study-permit process, so it is often worth taking one.
