Skills Assessment Process

AHPRA & ANMAC Registration for Indian Nurses

ANMAC (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council) assesses your qualifications. AHPRA then registers you to practise. Both are required before employment and recommended before visa lodgement.

01
Complete English Language Test
3–6 months prep

Achieve IELTS Academic 7.0+ in all four bands or OET Grade B in all components. Superior English (IELTS 8.0+) adds 10 extra SkillSelect points.

02
ANMAC Skills Assessment
2–4 months

Submit nursing degree transcripts, clinical practice evidence, and employer references to ANMAC. Assessment confirms your qualification is equivalent to an Australian nursing degree.

03
AHPRA Registration Application
3–6 months

Apply to AHPRA with ANMAC outcome, English proof, criminal history checks (India and any other country of residence), and identity documents.

04
Submit EOI via SkillSelect
Immediate upon ANMAC

With ANMAC outcome in hand, submit an Expression of Interest nominating your ANZSCO code (254 or 411), points score, and preferred visa subclasses.

05
State Nomination (if 190/491)
1–4 months

Apply to target states such as Tasmania, South Australia, or Western Australia. Some states require a job offer; others accept offshore applications. Approval adds 5–15 points.

06
Receive Invitation & Lodge Visa
6–12 months

SkillSelect issues an invitation to apply (ITA). Lodge your visa application within 60 days with all documents. Visa grant typically follows in 6–12 months.
